My raisons d'ĂȘtre
I have been hacking and coughing and spluttering away for a month now
My body is dealing with the last two years of work
of pushing hard,
all the time,
unrelenting.
But you see, I look at the three angels in the pictures above
and I understand why I've pushed this hard
and why I have given all that I have so my family can move here.
Was it worth it?
Absolutely!
They are, and continue to be the reason I work
the reason I love
the reason I breathe
the reason I live.
So... I'm back to my blog - and I intend to listen to my body
stop a bit more
breathe a bit more
live a lot more
love a lot more
And as always,
I will share the journey with my faithful blog
who hasn't deserted me
even though I keep leaving him
when life gets a bit much
and I forget to contemplate!
Look at those pictures again...
They not only have my blood running through their veins
But they clearly have my heart in the palm of their little hands
Just as my wife tends for my spirit with her wise young hands
How lucky I am
to call these three
My Family.

Hard work
My personal and spiritual energy is a scarce resource
Ensuring that this scarce resource is used in the best possible way
Is a challenge that I (and most people, knowingly or unknowingly) face everyday.
Giving too much of myself to people, thoughts, actions
that take away and empty my batteries
rather than help to recharge them again
just doesn't make sense...
Simple economics!
So I've been choosing to rather invest it in positive areas of my life:
My wife
My children
My self
My work
So...
I choose to be positive
I choose to have fun
I choose to love
I choose to laugh
I choose to live
I choose to not allow others to make the choice for me.
I choose consciously,
and I choose lovingly.

Irregular Blogger Found...
On 4 May 2010, an irregular blogger was found
He was thinking about life, love and everything else,
And he felt bad for not blogging for quite a while.
And then he realised that whilst he hasn't been blogging,
He has been keeping a journal and enjoying the practice of writing
rather than typing...
Upon further reflection, this irregular blogger also admitted to himself
that he should spend more time reflecting
and less time reflecting on reflecting
because the latter was more distracting and imbued with guilt
whilst the former usually induced a sense of peace
And so, now, for purely selfish reasons
And looking for more peace
The irregular blogger will make no promises to the world
And he will be kind of his self
And look forward to future reflections
And revelations...
Please pray for the irregular blogger...

The hunger
If the thirst for knowledge is not quenched
understanding is replaced by ignorance
and empathy replaced by apathy
The resulting infertile mind allows
the parasitical ego to grow
on top of, and in spite of, your self.
So quench your thirst
and pay heed to the bibles you pick
for they will be the maps
that will help guide
your life and spiritual journey
But, for goodness sake...
Drink something!

Stop... in the name of love!
My first blog in 2010.
Isn't it rather ominous that my year begins with a [painful] reminder to slow down and pace myself?
As I spent the first couple of days of 2010 in bed, moaning about the back pain,
I did my best to listen to the world (and myself) and actually slow down
before I figuratively and literally rendered myself completely immobile.
I ended up reading The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown and pretty much
saw past the story line and the complex plot based on real symbols etc.
and decided rather to soak in the spiritual teachings that he attempts to deliver in the book.
Although initially vexed, I'm now looking after myself, my back, my self.
Looking forward to pilates...
Looking forward to a better back...
Looking forward to a glorious 2010
with my beautiful wife
and my battery chargers - my lovely children!
2009 has taught me much and
2010 promises to teach even more...
My motto for 2010?
Pace,
Pace my self,
and listen closely
so the need to shout
is drained by the cacophony of silence
and the desire to be present.
